Woof! Woof! Bark bark bark! Ruff! Oh! Wait! I forgot. You don’t speak dog. I’ll just go ahead and speak human then. Okay. Let’s start over.
Hello! My name is Somer. If you are wondering how to say that it is pronounced, “So-Mer”. I know it seems strange, but it really is a perfect name for me. Do you want to know why? It’s because everyone is always saying things like…“You are SO sweet! You are SO good! You are SO playful!” I bet if we meet, you will be saying the same type of things about me too. Just wait. You’ll see I’m right.
SO let me tell you a little bit more about me so you will want to me. My story starts when I was found as stray and eventually worked my way to Houston Boxer Rescue. That was really the best thing that has ever happened to me, so it is a good place for my story to start. It is because until then I was afraid, alone, hungry, and sick. It was not a good life up until HBR took me in. Thankfully they did and my life is changing for the better!
I am no longer afraid and alone. I get to be part of a new foster family who takes great care of me. I get to sleep in a bedroom with them, play with my foster furbrother, play with my foster parents’ grandkids, and stay inside! I am so grateful to be inside that I always try and show my very best manners so I never go potty in the house. I am also learning how to stay in a kennel when they go away. This is hard for me, because I am so scared to be abandoned again. However my foster mom says, “You are SO smart, you are going to figure this out soon!”
Guess what? I am also no longer hungry and sick. Since being part of HBR I have been gaining the weight back that I had lost when I was on the streets. And even better yet, HBR has stuck beside me and taken me to the vet so I can get better. You see, I had all of these lumps on my body that had to be removed and I have heartworms. The vet has already removed all of the lumps and they think they got them all out so they will no longer cause me to be sick. Once I’ve healed from that surgery, HBR is going to get me treated for those pesky heartworms and they will soon too be a thing that is just part of my past!
And I can’t wait until everything I’ve told you is just a part of my history. And I know that will happen soon, because HBR has promised to help me find a loving family of my very own! I am so excited! When I start to think and dream about my perfect family I think about a family that has other dogs for me to play with (because I love playing wrestle and tug of war), a family that likes to spend lots of time with me and who likes to snuggle. Basically, I just really want a family to adopt me who will love me and let me part of their family. Forever. And in return, I will love them. Forever.
