Heartworm Positive
"Hey, my name is Tank and here's my story. My previous family (who surrendered me to the shelter) said I am 6.5 years old... But, I have absolutely no grey on my muzzle yet, so I may be younger! According to my previous family, I spent all day alone outside in a yard or locked in a garage, so I'm really excited to now be living inside and getting to be part of the family! Also, I'm a BIG boy and Tank is a perfectly fitting name for me. I last weighed in at 77lbs and I need to bulk up....

My first week with my foster family was a little rough as I am strong willed, but I'm doing much better now. Since I've spent most of my life outside, I never got taught how to be inside, follow commands and be obedient to a human. I just thought I could use my weight to dominate and push my way around and through everyone. But, my but foster dad (and mom) have been very firm and consistent with my training and I'm quickly learning to respect and follow the rules. (I now LOVE my foster dad a ton for teaching me all these manners and I'm going to LOVE you to once I learn to respect you!  I'd be a perfect dude dog!)

I am potty trained and well mannered in the house, but I do like jumping on counters and eating butter when I'm alone, so I'm learning to be kenneled when my foster family is gone. I don't really like the kennel, but I'm getting used to it. I'm not happy being alone outside anymore and like trying to jump the fence, but once I'm used to the yard, I'm much calmer. I walk really well on a leash, but I do try to chase cats and small rodents... I do also get anxious when storms come through, but now that I'm inside, those storms are not nearly as scary.

I've been really well behaved with kids and teenagers when I'm out on walks, but my foster family does not have kids so I haven't had too much experience with them yet. I don't mind other dogs, but I am a big, dominant boy and I like to play rough, so it can take some for another dog and I to be comfortable with each other.

My foster moms LOVES my soft ears and says I'm the sweetest boy to cuddle with. Who can resist my big, droopy eyes! I'm looking for my forever family who is willing to work on my manners and let me be the most loyal, loving dog they've ever had."
